Regular Audience Feedback With Discussion of Refinements Due To This
so with these comments i refined my print work my giving them a overall darker mysterious feel. and in relation with my trailer i desaturated the film and darkened the footage a little to acheve the darker emotional feel.
Skills Development

this is a media promotional video i created to try and further develop my skills using 'final cut pro' and creating my first piece of music as a soundtrack using 'garage band' all using one of the colleges apple mac's. this skills development has increased my skill of editing together video to create a single fluid piece like that in our today's television shows and movies, giving me a further understanding to deconstruct a piece of video also with researching professional and using them to create an idea about my own production to a professional standard using the correct shots and editing i have researched from those professional products.
i have begun to use final cut pro to edit my video and am gaining ability to edit film in a professional way and to also make it look professional by changing shot duration, freeze frames, transitions, adding video over existing video yet still keeping audio, as well as adding soundtracks over everything I've edited.
i am also beginning to take professional looking photos for my film poster and magazine, using the correct lighting to create the correct feel to the photos i take.

St. cuthbert's : this is the Church in the middle of my town (darlington) center, it is where i will be filming some of my more mysterious shots. this will preferably done on a night time however making at a grater risk for injury especially if doing a running or chase scene.
QE sixth form : this is the college that i go to and this location is a possibility so far, if i chose to use it i would mainly be filming the more standard dialogue scenes. risks within this location are few as it is well looked after for the students that go there.the access to certain areas of the college may be closed or inaccessible if i chose to film on a weekend and therefor will have to find a suitable time.

Darlington town center : darlington is my home town and i will be using one of its streets to film a conversation and walking scenes.
the access restrictions to this location are minimal, however it Willi be fairly noisy if filming on a busy day and will have to try to avoid
Starbucks/cafe : the exact location is still to be decided but i would only need to shoot one or two scenes for my film. the access should be fairly easy although i will have to get permission to film on location.
Photoshoot Plans

the main focus of my poster idea would be towards the mysteriousness and gloominess of the image, this would hopefully cause the viewers to want to find out where this image is and the context or intention behind it. h have chosen a bloody text to indicate that the movie is of a mature nature and to give an idea on what the movie will consist of, the linking tag line gives no indication to the films content specifically, although it makes the viewer want to know which 'people' find it easy to kill.
the main focus of this front cover idea was to have the main image that of the main character steping out from the shadows into the light which creates this eary mysterious look as the image only takes up a small ammount of space it was ecential to fill it up with other news and articles within the magazine, though finding a way to keep the page interesting will be hard.
i chose the name 'big screen' as to give a clear idea of what the content of the magazine is. costinuing with the idea that gold represents glitz and glamor i chose to outline the title in gold.
the image and the use of light almost makes him look menaceing and could give faulse impressions and be interprated by the reader as the antogonist

the main focus was to be the actor as big as possible within the page, with the barrel of the gun seeming to be in your face this is to show that hes a hard ass and goes by any means to get what he wants. the colours, other than the gold of the title, represent the background image and the genre in which it depicts, the darker colours to show the mystery of the image but also gives a sense of uneasiness. the red it to pop out from the page, to give important thinks a little more emphasis but also represents the blood to show that the main feature isnt all fun and games.
the gold for the title is to represent the glitz and glamor of hollywood movie stars, hense the name of the magazine, the gold is mainly to stand of the page whatever the background cover may be so that it is easily seen and recognised
the use of the gun barrel so close to the reader connotes the fact that life can be hard and you have to toughen up if you want to keep strong, this could relate to mast people now days as with the resession everyone is trying to keep living as normal life as they can.

Proposal of Ideas
the narrative will be simple and straight forward
the editing of the movie for the main part will be quick and exciting, while long drawn out shot will be used to build tension.
i have decided to take this movie in a new direction in the world of film mainly keeping it as a first person, however i will use shots to show character walk down a street etc. to give an overview of the situation, trying to give it an overall feel of a game/making the audience feel as if their there. i understand that this is a risky move but i am hoping that this fresh style will spark interest.
the genre of the movie is a crime/thriller which will be clear through the characters personality's and the roles that they play within the story easily being able to distinguish between the cop and killer making the crime thriller genre clearly represented, as well as the situations and mysteries that occur
Institutional Context
as with major films production i fist had to start with an Idea, and in major films this idea will be refined several times before the finished story can be made into a motion picture.
i will follow this i will have to create a new story all of my own, however in my case i will only be creating the trailer rather than the whole movie.
next in line is Development Finance this is b getting money for the next steps in the project which is to create the Packaging, in the form or advertisements etc, for the new movie but also to pay writers to create the Script for the film. writing the script is a lengthy process and constantly has to written and rewritten if unapproved by the initial creator.
i however will be writing the scrip to my film myself if i decide one is needed and also creating the package so in terms of needing money I'm safe.
the next step in the process is Financing the project by finding the financial support from company's i.e producers and other film makers. this is mainly because making a major motion picture can cost up to millions of pounds and most people that the movie ideas come from don't have the money to fuel the project themselves and may also be in experienced in film making, everyone needs a little help.
for my film i won't really need any financial help as i am only making the trailer and the semi pro camera will be provided by my college. the only thing i would have to spend money on is props and costume.
Pre-Production:
after gaining financial support pre-production starts off with a kick off meeting. which is gathered of all main people involved with the movie and devise a plan of action, basically a time line of when things have to be done and how to do them.
for me this will mainly consist of friends and people that are helping me in creating the trailer and picking a dates on which we are all available to film.
first on the list is to hold auditions/casting for the main characters and extras. this can take up a great length of time trying to find the perfect actor for the perfect part, making sure that the actor gives the appeal that the character would need.
once all the actors have been picked the next part of the process is to storyboard the whole film each scene at a time, this gives the director, actors and crew an idea of how the shots should look and how it should flow.
i also need to create a storyboard to layout how my trailer will be filmed.
production design are a team that designes and lays out all of the sets, scenes and costumes that are other wise impossible to film, such as outer space or places of imagination (Alice in wonderland, loard of the rings). these designs would then be sent to the production unit who would then build and create what was needed. the production design team would also be the ones to make sure that all sets are set up and decorated according to the setting.
as i am a armature maker and have little to no budget so i well have to think carefully and use the areas and place available to get the scene i want.
in the special effects planning the directors and digital effects team decide what special effects, if any, are required for scenes within the movie. this includes things like which explosives will give a desired effect or if any wire or C.G will be needed.
as i am an armature film maker my trailer will contain very little or no special effects.
after the pre-production stage its time to shoot the film, from start to finish. this is probably the longest stage throughout the whole process which can take up to 2 years, sometimes even longer. its crucial that each scene is exact and precisely how the director wants it to look.
although my filming will not take as long i will still have to go through the process of making sure each scene is how i want it.
in the post production stage they gather the finished movie in all its individual scenes and edit them together to create one fluid motion picture. this is just a lengthy process as the scenes need to be fitted together perfectly to get the desired impression. during this stage the sound effects and non diagetic music are also included into the final product.
i will follow this step as i need to be sure that my trailer also gives the desired feeling and look that i want.
now that the movie is finaly finished the company need to find a reliable agency to make sure that their product sells and avoids all the hard work and money being wasted.
as my trailer is only for coursework and am not actually going to be selling the finished item i will be free to skip this stages.
during the marketing of the finished movie large quantities of merchandise as well as billboard posters relating to the film will be shipped all over the world to promote its new release. of course all this must be fully secure and stable. this stage would also include the release of a trailer to promote its availability in cinemas.
and finally the exhibition of the film includes thing like interviews with the actors that play the main characters and them explaining little bits and pieces of the film such as a brief storyline or explanation of a character. this stage can be a killer as stars may give a little to much than they originally meant to.
i will be creating all of the disigns for myself using photoshop.
the magazine now goes into production after the final go ahead and shiped to stores to be desplayed and then bought by target audience.
as i am only creating a font cover i will not be putting it into prduction or sale.
so i know that throughout this process i will be takeing on a number of different roles:
-director
-producer
-script writer
-advertisement (in the form of poster and movie magazine)
-editor
-special effects
-camera man

Secondary Audiance Research
The information from pearlanddean.com helped me understand that my main target audience for my film will be of the age 18-34 with a 50-50 gender difference, my target audience will have great imagination and enjoy a visual escape that's still close to home being able to see a world similar to theirs but still slightly surreal that they feel its true.
My film is aimed towards those who read crime thriller book by the likes of Richard Montanari and Kathy Reichs, my target audience will also be interested in a lot of crime TV programs such as 'Bones', 'criminal mind's' or the 'CSI' series.
Because my audience is of 18-34 age restrictions within filming and ideas will be very loose, therefor issues with to much violence or scenes of a sexual nature wont need to be carefully edited for younger viewers (although keeping it from being pornographic and within the guidelines of what may seem appropriate). the film is a crime thriller with a lot of action and a lot of twists and turns within the plot, this may be a problem as older viewers may not be able to keep up with the story.
Textual Analysis

the title of the magazine however makes itself know with large text making it clear to see, read and recognise. the title itself "total film" gives a clear understanding about its genre that its all about the latest films and nothing else it also includes that the magazine has a website for readers to check out showing that they are up to date with technology and want to be able to give the readers more that can only be achieved over the Internet.
the first thing that is mainly knowtisable about this empire magazine front cover is that the title is partialy covered by the main image and is a recuring item through issues. this is possibly because the producers feel that the main heading and image is more important that reputation of the magazine and whats the potential reader to knowtise and recognise this first rather than the title.the main image is of the joker feom the batman series clearly stated by the heading to its left "meet the joker", this is also supported by the smaller image at the top of the page showing the bat man logo. the text "one on one with batman's new nemesis" not only wants the reader to read more but makes us view him as the 'bad guy' which is strongly supported by his entire body language, braced, full eye contact with an almost sadistic smile. even with his unusual dress style you know hes not to be messe
the colour theme of the page is an interesting one as it alow's colours and things to clearly pop from the dark image, but its hard to establish what the magazine is trying to make stand out the most as its hard to concentrate on a single colour or point. however the text is easy to see and read.

1. the first scene realy sets the scene with the 1800's feel, with the horse drawn cart an the old stone bildings with intricate designs, things that you could only associate with that time period. the darkness of the shot gives it a real sense of somone up to no go or that something bad or mysterious is happening or about to happen. the shot is strange as it gives a close up view of the forgroung but as its an arch we can see all the way down the street behind
