the first thing that draws you attention to this magazine is the colour scheme, the use of red on black and white causes it to pop from the page drawing our attention to the more important things or the things the magazine wants us to notice. the back ground is of a man, although serious looks somewhat sinister with the smirk that he wears, this gives mixed feelings about his nature and intent towards, as it
seems from his eye contact, the reader . we assume that this character is associated with "star trek" as this is the larges text on the page, other than the title. the "world exclusive" draws our attention to what we can presume is the main feature within the magazine, it would suggest that this magazine has something about this movie within its pages that no other movie orientated magazine in the world has, this sense of secrecy and availability to be ahead of everyone else draws us in to ultimately buy the issue, this is enhanced by the mention of 3 other issues that make a set. it also draws our attention to the text lower down which gives more incentive to buy the issue as we also wish to find out why this is the "boldest and coolest film of 2009" when star trek, for a long time, has been associated with nerds and people that feel they are more intelligent.the rest of the page is more bland with the white text of other articles almost blending in with the back and white background image making them seem less important, however the red text above the title shows that includes more movies that are most looked forward to that month/year.
the title of the magazine however makes itself know with large text making it clear to see, read and recognise. the title itself "total film" gives a clear understanding about its genre that its all about the latest films and nothing else it also includes that the magazine has a website for readers to check out showing that they are up to date with technology and want to be able to give the readers more that can only be achieved over the Internet.
the first thing that is mainly knowtisable about this empire magazine front cover is that the title is partialy covered by the main image and is a recuring item through issues. this is possibly because the producers feel that the main heading and image is more important that reputation of the magazine and whats the potential reader to knowtise and recognise this first rather than the title.
the main image is of the joker feom the batman series clearly stated by the heading to its left "meet the joker", this is also supported by the smaller image at the top of the page showing the bat man logo. the text "one on one with batman's new nemesis" not only wants the reader to read more but makes us view him as the 'bad guy' which is strongly supported by his entire body language, braced, full eye contact with an almost sadistic smile. even with his unusual dress style you know hes not to be messe

d with.
the colour theme of the page is an interesting one as it alow's colours and things to clearly pop from the dark image, but its hard to establish what the magazine is trying to make stand out the most as its hard to concentrate on a single colour or point. however the text is easy to see and read.

1. the first scene realy sets the scene with the 1800's feel, with the horse drawn cart an the old stone bildings with intricate designs, things that you could only associate with that time period. the darkness of the shot gives it a real sense of somone up to no go or that something bad or mysterious is happening or about to happen. the shot is strange as it gives a close up view of the forgroung but as its an arch we can see all the way down the street behind
